My impression has been that the current plan is that it's no longer acceptable or fashionable for the US to take the lead in anything, that in fact we have to weaken ourselves morally, financially and militarily so that we are on a level playing field with every other country and equally impoverished.
But I am looking forward to seeing the cute fencer.
