That brings back memories. When I got mine in Germany, only one other guy got it because of the full value, gale force, right-to-left wind on the rifle range. Your point of aim had to be nearly 2 feet upwind of the target to hit it at 300 meters.
After the LTC awarded us the badges, he instructed "Left Face" to march us off the stage. I, of course, did a right face.
He muttered, "I oughtta take that badge back", and snickered.
