American troops are often used overseas as a 'tripwire" to give other nation states reason to "pause" before attacking.

Much like Russian troops were recently used in Syria and the long-standing use of US troops in S.Korea.

But then again, use of American troops "deployed" in Israel will certainly inflame certain non-state entities/proxies/terror groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and Code-Pink.
