Two ways to look at it
There are two ways to look at it.
1st is that pro rating it is fair. You were only in the zone for a day or two and should only be paid for that period.
2nd is that of all the things to look at to save money here and there this is one of the cheezyest. Lord help us if some grunt gets a couple extra hundred dollars out of a 4 - 6 month deployment.
And I will admit I'll taken advantage of getting in or out of country a couple days early or late. The Air Force seemed every ready to "help" with the timing.
