Boots and books

I don't like the idea of buying books that claim to help you get selected.

Since you didn't name any authors, I won't respond to any of them by name.

This is my problem with any book that claims to give you the upper hand on getting selected, and I have read many of them.

They are either truthful, which means someone is actually giving away the secrets or they are very vague and don't really say anything. So that makes the author not trustful with information or a fraud. Either way, not a source I would want to use.

Before anyone says anything negative about this post, I realize the contributions that most of the authors make to great organizations that do great things for Soldiers. Those are great contributions are not the issue, they are the byproduct of a book that should never exist.

Your sources talking about boots and cadre are just as bad. As a number, you have no idea what the cadre is looking for. Your "peers" are in the same boat as you. Stick to the guidance that the cadre is giving you.

Here is the best advice you will EVER get about selection (and I don't think I am better or smarter than anyone else). Most of my brothers will agree with me.

1. Be where you are suppose to be.
2. Speak only when spoken to.
3. Don't quit.

Everyone goes to selection in shape. No one just decides on a Friday to show up to Monday's class. So what is the difference? See number 3 on the list. Selection is all about you and only you. If you are ready, you can get selected wearing snow shoes.
