In 1956 when I went to the 77th (FB !!) we were unable to wear it on post and an automatic DR if you got caught wearing it in public anywhere....  Don't know how true this story is but we were told the POTUS(Ike) considered it foreign headgear and was completely opposed to it.....  In Germany when I got there in 1959 with the 10th,we wore it everywhere.........

I believe that SF is a 'calling' - not too different from the calling missionaries I know received. I knew instantly that it was for me, and that I would do all I could to achieve it. Most others I know in SF experienced something similar. If, as you say, you HAVE searched and read, and you do not KNOW if this is the path for you --- it is not....
