Lotta food, water & shelter hereabouts; perfect 'wayside' for a cat that is eastbound at its own pace. Why bother with elk calves or deer when there is domesticated food?
Maybe they saw one of the old 1980 bumper stickers (souvenirs from the Cuban opn) saying 'Escape to Wisconsin'.
