The St. Petersburg Times is well known and respected in some circles <<LINK>>.

IMO, Ms. Bachmann's ongoing case of hoofinmouthis is an entirely different issue of how the media, mainstream and otherwise, cover it.

It is not the MSM's fault that Ms. Bachmann has endorsed a policy preference that embraces the following "logic". (Source attached, as the FAMiLY LEADER is in CYA mode.)
Quote:
Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA’s first African-American President.
If politicians--especially those conservatives who recall fondly the good ole days--are going to base their policy preferences in American history, they need to hit the stacks. Else, their credibility (intellectual, political, and moral) will remain vulnerable to any motivated American with a library card.

Or, if politicians don't want to invest the time so that they can know what they're talking about, they could at least ask themselves "Does this statement help or hurt me politically with the intended audience?"
