The irony of a Democratic administration led by a self described professor of constitutional law using the Fourteenth Amendment to counter Republicans is exquisite.
Maybe military historians and historians of the Civil War have been debating the wrong questions all along.* It isn't how the South lost the American Civil War or how the North won. The question is: Why do Democrats, regardless of ideology, section, or century keep trying to change the rules of the game so they can get their way?
