We don't subscribe to cable TV- we actually use Netflix, as it lets us pick and choose what our children watch. Even then, there are many "children's" cartoons that have to be screened as they simply teach horrible behavior. I am no holier than thou fundie in the slightest, but some of the things depicted are unacceptable.
The best thing to do is to spend more time together doing activities with them.
