The Muslims you are refering to are not good Muslims but apostates. And I ain't the one saying it. Leading Muslim clerics - clerics like the ones thrown off the plane - have said there are no moderate Muslims - just apostates and they will be taken care of in due time. This "pick and choose the better parts of the Koran" does not fly with "Good" Muslims.
There can be no reformation in Islam because the Koran is the word of God and is perfect. There will be no rewrite or even relook of the Koran.
Go to a Muslim forum and state that they need to rewrite the Koran or ignore the more violent parts in the later section to make it more peaceful.
Did you ever go to Ruth's blog and see how she got hammered by Muslims for her "pick and choose" remarks?
So again watch the elections in Egypt, see what happens in the rest of northern Africa and keep your eye on Turkey. Islam is on the march.

Hello, Sir. Without jumping into the argument about what constitutes appropriate interpretation of the Qur'an, and simply because you referred to my blog, I'd like to make the point that I'm not confident that particular comments on that blog necessarily support the idea that "real" Muslims deride so-called "pick and choose" Muslims. Muslims and non-Muslims make all kinds of remarks all the time about all kinds of things on that blog. Unfortunately, unless I know the reader I can't even be sure they are Muslim, given the anonymity of the internet. Same challenge exists with online forums, Muslim and non-Muslim.
More of us need to talk face to face. Pamela Geller is welcome for coffee at Light of Islam Bookstore any time. I will be happy to pull Reliance of the Traveler right off the shelf and go over it with her. Same goes for any reader here. I would be happy to pull various books of tafseer off the shelves and have an organic discussion of them with all the pages before us rather than copied and pasted snippets. I'm not trying to be coy. That is literally what we in this country need to do.
At any rate, I thank you for being a Straight Path reader and hope you don't mind my posting this comment without addressing the main subject of this thread.
