WD - that made me smile.
As an O returned to Group after OCS and IOBC, I was the ODC AST3/S5 when the BN CDR, a former SF NCO who was an OCS grad and MOH recipient, called me into his office. The conversation went something like this:
{Scene - Typical Bn Cdr's office; Bn Cdr seated in grey government issued chair behind a grey government issued desk.}
{Saluting} "Sir, Lieutenant Richard reports as ordered."
{Bn Cdr returns salute} "Doc, stand at ease. What do you think of ODAXXX and their recent performance on the New Mexico UW ARTEP?"
"Well, sir, from what I saw and know, they...yaddayaddayadda. Why, sir?"
"I just relieved CPT Hoohah and MSG Hoohoo. The team's yours. Got any ideas for who you want for a Team Sergeant?"
{Fade to me - a 2LT - looking at LTC XXX like a hog staring at a wristwatch.}
And that began yet another Army adventure and many fond memories of some truly great guys. Thanks George, Donnie, Mark, Kevin, Tink, Don, Walt, Matt, Ski, Laney.
And so it goes...
Richard
