They have been bringing up this issue here locally in the state of Nevada. Legislators have been proposing installing a meter in every vehicle and charging people for every mile driven, however what comes to mind is that if they do decide to go this route, will they drop all local and federal taxes from every gallon of gasoline or are they going to be double dipping? I guess you can call this a case of 'you're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't' scenario.
