Many a mission ended back at the firebase with me pulling my 6'2 235 lb frame out of a GMV, doubled over and walking like an old man (okay...a much older man) to the medshed to get my weekly dose of Toradol.
I chalk it up to the hazards of my chosen profession. Like so many before me, I've told the younger kids to take better care of themselves and get things documented...and to their credit and just like me at their age...it fell on deaf ears.

My time in the service,we didn't have any type of armor except for possibly a steel pot which was hardly ever used...........  The only real heavy gear was an overloaded rucksack..........  Do you fellers feel safer with carrying all that armor?..........

I believe that SF is a 'calling' - not too different from the calling missionaries I know received. I knew instantly that it was for me, and that I would do all I could to achieve it. Most others I know in SF experienced something similar. If, as you say, you HAVE searched and read, and you do not KNOW if this is the path for you --- it is not....
