Although Maher said he didn't think Obama was a Christian, he never argued that Obama was a Muslim either. Why would this create a different perception? Could it be that Obama not being a Christian (but being something else other than a Muslim) is not a big a deal as it would be if Obama was found to be Muslim? Could the Obama administration use this particular tactic to get people to lay off of his faith preference?
This would be a tremendous way to put this issue to rest for him as reelection time approaches.
