I'll say this - I contacted the USMC, USAF, USN and USA regarding enlisting. None were any good with contact save for the USA's recruiters. It's luck of the draw, I got lucky with a standup group that put answered my questions, showed me the regulations in AR 40-501 that barred me from airborne initial entry and showed me the contracts available on their AKO/Recruiter pages.

Don't be afraid to say no - I've said it to every branch's recruiters until I got something I was interested in. If nothing else find an MOS/Rating that interests you though and find honor in simply serving.

And I've read your qualms with serving as an 11B. I've got a college degree, scored a 97 ASVAB and scored a 300 on my pre BCT PFT - and I only considered a handful of MOS'... 11B was definitely up there. If you want a resume boost or the like go Navy Nuke, I've meet some retired SF soldiers here in Tampa and I can say this - they're quicker to tell jokes and crack a smile then they are to boast about their exploits nor tout their career achievements. I will say this though... the former Rangers at my job are quick to say "Rangers lead the way!" (Especially at the Tampa MEPS - one of the advisors was frequently heard yelling the same thing but ending with "god damnit!").

Learning a bit of soldiering won't kill you. If anything lighten up and enjoy the ride and the experiences you have. One force, one fight - everyone has a place and cream has a tendency to rise, so don't fret. If you don't have it it'll all become painfully obvious. The military has a tendency of exposing your weaknesses.

Regardless good luck with getting the contract and whatever route you decide to take; military or otherwise.
