That's why I left. Nobody wanted to take a chance. We had 25 NVA regulars in a vill that was located 300 meters into Marvins AO and we were running "defensive patrol". I had the high ground, even numbers and surprise. It would have been like shooting fish in a barrel. The Bn CO would not give me clearance. That's when I decided I had enough of he military. Big mistake on my part to even ask for clearance to cross the AO boundary.
So, the way I see the article is not much has changed. And that includes the part of relying on West Point graduates for information and opinions. Even that has not changed
