Soros on the other hand, makes no bones about what he wants to see come to pass and the fact that he is willing to put his vast amounts of money behind an effort to make it happen.
When I learned of what he was doing, I cancelled my “Progressive Insurance”

5 Lesser Known But Equally Insidious Recipients of George Soros’ Money

By Chris Queen
November 21, 2010

Much has been said lately about George Soros. Glenn Beck has made Soros a near constant topic of conversation on his radio program, and Beck did a multi-part exposéof Soros on his television show just this past week. With his recent injection of cash into Media Matters for America, Soros managed to keep himself in the headlines.

It’s worth digging in and learning more about George Soros. After all, he’s the man whose father changed the family surname from Schwartz to Soros to hide their Jewish heritage and thus avoid the Nazis. Soros bankrolled Czechoslovakia’s “Velvet Revolution” and claims to have aided in regime change in Georgia, Croatia, and Yugoslavia. He engineered the financial speculation that, in 1992, “broke the Bank of England,” earning a cool billion dollars for himself in the process. And he’s the man who is worth an approximate $13 billion and uses staggering amounts of that money on radical Leftist causes and organizations. His story has all the makings of a terrific movie (at the very least he’d be a great James Bond villain), if it weren’t for the fact that his latest antics are happening right here in the United States.
We know Soros as the sugar daddy behind such organizations as the Center for American Progress, Media Matters, the late Air America Radio, Think Progress, People for the American Way, and Sojourners. We know him as the architect of the “Shadow Democratic Party,” the sort of man-behind-the-curtain organization of the Democrats today and responsible in many ways for Barack Obama’s election. Soros’ Open Society Institute is the gateway to funding for these and many other Leftist organizations.

While there are plenty of groups and funds who are recipients of Soros’ money that are commonly known, there are even more that are not talked about often, but are equally insidious. Many of these groups sound benign on the surface, and they hide their radical agendas behind a patina of respectability. The following is a list of five organizations who are lesser known as recipients of George Soros’ funding. You may have heard of some of these groups (I know you’ll have heard of at least one), and you may be surprised at the vast reach of Soros’ financial influence.

1. The YWCA

On the surface, the YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association) seems like an odd organization to be a beneficiary of George Soros. After all, the YWCA conjures up images of a totally innocuous sister organization to the YMCA, sponsoring recreational opportunities and summer camps for kids and athletic facilities for adults. However, the YWCA has taken on a dangerous femisogynistic agenda for nearly a hundred years. As Kimberly Schuld put it:

For many of us, the YWCA represents a health club or the sponsor of a girl’s basketball team. The YWCA is a national and international network of more than 300 affiliates, and boasts that it is the nation’s largest provider of battered women’s facilities and developed the first child care programs in the United States. But the YWCA is up to much more than caring after the needs of battered women and lonely children.

A good look at the YWCA reveals a much more political Leftist organization, much of which is paid for with your tax dollars. Although it was socially progressive from the beginning, the YWCA was not exactly the radical force it is today.

So, how did this organization become Soros-worthy? It all started, as many things did, during the Progressive era in the early 20th century. Not long after its incorporation in 1907, the YWCA began to carry the mantle of the feminist agenda and the radicalism that often went along with it, advocating minimum wage laws and promoting the concept of what we now call sex education.( At that time, sex education meant little more than teaching young people about the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases.)

As the century wore on, the YWCA picked up increasingly radical agendas, joining in the push for more graphic sex education and taxpayer-funded abortion on demand and against abstinence education and school choice measures. The YWCA teamed up with other radical feminist organizations like the National Organization for Women and Martha Burk’s infamous National Council of Women’s Organizations to promote Leftist policies and “Fight the Right.” After 9/11, the YWCA called for “tolerance” toward radical Islam and supported a number of anti-war and bald-faced anti-Israel causes. It’s clear how far leftward the YWCA leans these days and how they could be Soros-approved.

2. The Ploughshares Fund

Another group benefiting from George Soros’ considerable financial backing is the Ploughshares Fund. Founded in 1981, the Ploughshares Fund is committed, at least on the surface, to “investing in security and peace worldwide.” Presumably, the fund derives its name from the Biblical reference in Micah 4:3, which reads (in the New International Version):

He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

Ploughshares Fund’s website boasts:

We are the largest grantmaking foundation in the U.S. whose exclusive mission is peace and security funding. In past the 29 years, we have given over $60 million to the individuals and organizations whose efforts have the greatest impact.
Through our grants and advocacy we have:
• Convened the first-ever U.S.-Russian joint threat assessment of Iranian nuclear and ballistic missile potential. Our analysis informed the decision by the Obama Administration to cancel plans for missile defenses in Europe that did not work and did not address real threats.
• Saved a billion dollars from the 2009 economic stimulus package by supporting a coalition of groups that lobbied against including nuclear weapons in the bill.
• Jumpstarted U.S.-Russia nuclear negotiations by convening leaders and experts to generate concrete proposals for an improved partnership.
• Demonstrated definitively that a nuclear test ban could be verified, clearing the way for ratification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty.
• Supported successful advocacy to prevent the development of a new generation of nuclear weapons.
• Established innovative diplomacy with at-risk states to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons.
• Ensured the success of international treaties to outlaw chemical weapons and landmines.

Yet the organization, which at one time counted actor-film producer Michael Douglas among its board members is actually committed to defunding much of the United States military and thwarting American foreign policy, as shown its project, the Peace and Security Funders Group. The Ploughshares Fund opposes any efforts on the part of the United States to build a missile defense system. Additionally, its founder, Naila Bolus, is co-founder of the Women Legislators’ Lobby, a group committed to “persuad[ing] Congress to redirect excessive military spending toward unmet human and environmental needs.” It’s not hard to see why George Soros would be willing to throw large sums of money at an organization like this one.

3. Mercy Corps

Mercy Corps is another one of those organizations with a pleasant-sounding name and an otherwise innocent purpose that masks a nefarious anti-Israel stance. It also happens to be another beneficiary of George Soros’ Open Society Institute.

Founded in 1981 by Dan O’Neill, Mercy Corps has helped people in 82 nations, providing over a billion dollars in aid. The organization states on its website that it:

…helps people in the world’s toughest places turn the crises of natural disaster, poverty and conflict into opportunities for progress. Driven by local needs and market conditions, our programs provide communities with the tools and support they need to transform their own lives. Our worldwide team of 3,700 professionals is improving the lives of 16.7 million people in more than 40 countries.

One of those countries is Israel. There, Mercy Corps works almost exclusively with Palestinians, and, perhaps because of their work their or perhaps because of other biases, they loudly parrot an anti-Israel attitude, placing all the blame for the conflict on the shoulders of Israel (and none on the Palestinians). Mercy Corps has pointedly laid the blame for the malnutrition of Palestinian children, the lack of adequate health care and education for families on the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and high poverty rates among Palestinians squarely at the feet of Israel, completely ignoring the responsibility of groups like Hamas and the Palestinian Authority for conditions in the region.....
