Your statement assumes that there's a connection between profit and costs. In my experience working for a small division of a multinational consumer and business electronics company, the folks who count the beans and their corporate masters see the two as having a more
fluid relationship. That is, production costs undermine profitability and should, therefore, be reduced whenever and however possible.
