Even though those are good books, it is one thing to read about some of the things you do and quite another to actually do them. Reading about it in no way prepares you. It can give you a place to start when preparing yourself for the tasks mentally, but that is just the start.

As far as being "forced" to do something you may not want to, if you want to join the Army, you better get used to that idea. Rangers are not a unit you are forced into. You work to attain it. Airborne units are not units you are forced into. You work to attain that priviledge.
