Thank you gentlemen. I find your your advice to be both humbling and inspiring, and honestly appreciate the time it took for you to share it.
The tattoos are all over seven years old, and the decision to get them were made by a person that I cannot honestly say I identify with anymore. They contain no hateful, lewd, or inappropriate subject matter, but I have suffered the consequences with no complaints thus far. But back then I never imagined I would one day have a chance to be a special forces operator for something as simple as hard work.
I have made my decision: I will sign an 18x contract first thing in the spring, once I have a chance to settle some odds and ends here. I will, as soon as I start receiving my bonus, put it towards tattoo removal; I will not wait to make sure that they piss someone off before doing what I have been advised is a good idea.
Hopefully, I will have the chance to be someone that men like yourselves can trust and depend on within two years. I will work hard and sacrifice to make it happen for me.
Also, I meant no disrespect to 11B infantrymen, it is not simply a matter of prestige. It is simply that I want to join SF specifically to work with people who, like myself, had sacrificed everything to be there working there with me.
If i was forced into 11B against my will, I would never be able to make peace with it, nor would I be able to make peace with being forced into rangers, or any other unit, regardless of prestige.
But please, if anyone has any other opinions or information that they feel would help me in any way, I would love to hear it.
