my intention…an artistic response to propaganda, tribal myth, oppressive beliefs systems and the chance to comment on few of my obsessions: VS, True Angles, and Clemens, by one of America’s great social commentators, Dylan.; imho, only Samuels Clemens was equally irreverent. Both Dylan and Clemens observations included the derogation of law and commercialization of religion.
If you haven’t read his “War Prayer", take the time to do so. You will discover an uncanny resemblance of distain. Clemens comment on the manipulation of patriotism mixed with equal parts of religious fervor, capitalism and myth making is exampled in the following few lines, it is further reduced by Dylan in the subsequent quote, the line resonates the same thematic relationship:
For Clemens:
In a sordid slime harmonious Greed was born in yonder ditch,
With a longing in his bosom and for others' goods an itch
As Christ died to make men holy, let men die to make us rich
Our god is marching on.
Dylan: “pink plastic Jesus’ that glow in the dark”
Jokerman, wow, only Jorge Luis Borges’s “Everything and Nothing” is as much fun.
