Pare, halve and core pears, chop to yield 1 cup fruit. In a large bowl beat oil and sugar until well blended. Beat in eggs one at a time, then beat in sour cream and vanilla. Sift flour, salt, soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to oil/sugar misture and blend well.
Minx in nuts and pears by hand.
Pour batter into well greased loaf pan, bake 350 for 1 hour or until done.

Thanks -- I will try this on the weekend. My pear tree was bursting so i picked a large bushel. I had planned on making pear sauce and canning it (same recipe as apple sauce) but I will have to divert some pears to this.
