Russia and Japan should be holding up neon signs saying , " Please come live here".

Xenophobia is a national pastime in Japan. Has been for centuries.
I spent three months in Japan, summer of 1970. I spent a lot of time in a little front porch pub just off Camp Zama. It was a local college kids place, beer & rice wine, seaweed chips & Hellman's Mayo, AND a jukebox with all the latest Rock-n-Roll..
Politics did not get a much air time, for several reasons, language being one.
When comm did get to politics, there was a pure xenophobic dislike for the Korean labor that was IMPORTED for most of the menial-manual jobs, construction, field hands.
As this was the same time that the rioters were fire bombing the US Navy base in Japan and a couple months after Kent State,, I keep a low profile on all topics..
The same kids I drank with 40 yrs ago are probably still at it..
