They need immigrants
This is fascinating, xenophobia from a country with zero natural resources whose declining population is one of their main challenges. Their population of an aged 128 million, at the current birth rate, should decrease to 107 million by 2050. They simply will not have enough workers to maintain their economic power going forward, they should be opening up to immigration in a big, big way.
Russia and Japan should be holding up neon signs saying , " Please come live here".
