I just remember the stories about the "tree markers" being compensated based upon the number of trees they marked. It wasn't a sighting that was required, just potential habitat.

I was working a job doing repairs at the Recondo school once. We had to work at 30 minute (off-on) intervals. A one day job turned into several days. Never saw a single bird even though one of those banded tress was right next to the rig.
