I don't know exactly how this works but there a few Docs and PAs who affiliated with our TX SF units although the unit sturcture in Texas doesn't directly provide for those positions. The BN Surgeon position for 5th BN 19th SFG is in Colorado, which is filled currently. But we have an MD from Texas who is associated with us as "the Battalion Surgeon" but who actually works for MedCom. It is complicated and I don't fully understand it but I know some people you can chat with who may be able to answer your questions better.
