During my entire 20 year career in the military, I have been briefed at every base I was posted at about buying cars from these shady ass dealerships outside the base. Every sailor and airman is given these briefings on a regular basis. I find it difficult to believe that an Army SSG didn't get that message. Most of the folks that go to these dealerships end up there because a regular dealership won't give them credit, while "Mr. Shady" will hook these folks right up.
I learned from watching others repeat the same mistakes over and over everywhere I go......
