The 24 hour casualty count of 52 is staggering, it is something I expect to hear from a war zone like Iraq or Afghanistan....not a US City. It would appear that Chicago is a war zone and policing it seems to be beyond the capabilities of the local Government.
As it stands, Mayor Daley has left the law abiding population to the mercy of criminals and the response time of the Police. If I where a Chicago resident, it would be my wish to have the means to protect myself without being considered a criminal.
