President Bush declared winner of Bobblection 2004

BROCKTON - Baseball fans went to the polls Monday in seven different ballparks in seven different states, participating in Bobblection 2004, a first-of-its kind promotion being sponsored by The Goldklang Group.

When the polls closed at 9 p.m. (ET), The Goldklang Group announced that President George W. Bush defeated Senator John Kerry in the voting, winning four of the seven states participating in the election.

“This appears to be an early indicator of how the public will vote in November,” Goldklang Group Senior Director Jeff Goldklang said. “Only, the public won’t leave voting booths with bobble-head dolls on Election Day.”

The Charleston (S.C,) RiverDogs, Fort Myers (Fla.) Miracle, Hudson Valley (N.Y.) Renegades, St. Paul (Minn.) Saints, Brockton (Mass.) Rox, Sioux Falls (S.D.) Canaries and New Haven County (Conn.) Cutters took part in the unique promotion.

Each club gave away a number of bobble-head dolls (ranging from 1,000-2,500), half of which were the Republican candidate, President George W. Bush, and the other half the Democratic nominee, Senator John F. Kerry.

As fans passed through stadium turnstiles, they were directed to election booths. Once inside, they had the option of casting their vote for President Bush or Senator Kerry. For participating in the voting, they received the bobble-head doll of their choosing.

President Bush took Charleston, Fort Myers, Hudson Valley, and Sioux Falls. Senator Kerry won Brockton, New Haven County, and St. Paul.

Bobblexit polling revealed early in the evening that the President had an advantage in the voting, with baseball fans in favor of his policies on important Bobbleissues such as: wood vs. aluminum bats, natural grass vs. artificial turf, The War: Yankees vs. Red Sox or Cubs vs. Cardinals, and switch-hitters.

The Goldklang Group is operated by Marv Goldklang and partner Mike Veeck. Known for a “Fun is Good” attitude and “Off the Wall” antics, clubs associated with the Group have repeatedly made national headlines for their promotional endeavors.
