I have already stated in here why I enjoyed the movie. Here is why I am glad it won.
This is the first hollywood movie that has not depicted Afghanistan or Iraq from a leftist, anti-war perspective. This was a movie that showed soldiers in a positive light, who cares if he used his peltors as a radio to talk to the guys on his team.
American's like the "cowboy/lone wolf" character, and the fact that EOD is a risky dangerous job they have to be "crazy" to do it. Just think of the whole Top Gun, type movie, they emphasized it with this movie.
