There is a big differance between being intellegant and the ability to apply knowledge. I to agree he is intellegant ie book smart, however when it comes to the real world he does not know how to apply commone sense and logic. I used to work with a lot of engineers and some of them were like that. There would be a simple problem and their solution was the most complex solution you can imagine, yet a simple solution would be betteer.
