Federal courts have exclusive "federal question" jurisdiction over patent infringement cases. Patents are granted by the Federal government, and are therefore governed by Federal law. If the matter in front of the Federal Court is a "federal question", there is no amount-in-controversy requirement that would get the matter dismissed.

You are confusing this with "diversity jurisdiction" wherein a plaintiff may bring a federal civil suit against a party from a different state if, among other things, the amount in controversy is greater than $75,000.
