Those wings have been in continuous service for 52 years. Been to Germany, Vietnam, Korea, Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan. They have been worn by 2 Field Artillerymen an Infantryman/SF, and a Military Intelligence guy.
Grand children are waiting in the wings.

What a great posting......  I got my wings in 1955 at Ft.Bragg, Gen. Trappnel handed them to us one at a time......  They were then sent to my bride of 51 years now when she was 14 years old and she wore them every day at school until she graduated and we were married when she was 17 and I was 20. Possibly the youngest soldiers wife at that time because I went back to the 10th in Germany...................

I believe that SF is a 'calling' - not too different from the calling missionaries I know received. I knew instantly that it was for me, and that I would do all I could to achieve it. Most others I know in SF experienced something similar. If, as you say, you HAVE searched and read, and you do not KNOW if this is the path for you --- it is not....
