I would suggest getting in a program such as LifeLock. Since my SSN was stolen out of a TriCare computer a few years ago I have been a member. For Aprrox $180 a year, they maintain fraud alerts on my husband, myself, my kids.
They run credit checks on all your underage children to ensure that no one has stolen their identity
I admit it can be a pain when you are trying to get credit in your own name, but the hassle is well worth it.
The best part is that if your identity is stolen, they will pay up to $1M to get your credit cleared and they take on the responsiblity of working with the credit agencies.
