I had a chance to experience Army skis in 1965 at Garmisch. We trained to go to Bardofus, Norway and the Army issued us those infamous skis. winter gear to include field jackets and field pants with liners and parkas. We also experienced the ARKEOs (SP). Better than carrying the crew served weapons and tents and sleeping bags (but not by much).
