I would say that Europeans tend to be a little more liberal minded than Americans but discrimination occurs everywhere. It's mostly the older and established conservatives that are like that. Bridgit Bardot has gotten into trouble for some of her public remarks about immigrants living in France. I've read and heard that the Swiss and the Austrians are some of the most discriminating on that side of the pond, but they are not alone. In some of the small villages and towns of East Germany where I lived and worked the people there didn't even like Germans who were from the western part of the country. I was only lucky in that I knew about the culture and spoke the language fairly well. I believe that caucasian Americans are probably the least discriminated against ethnic group in Europe. The eastern Europeans are also very bad about discriminating against people from other cultures. Gypsies are not treated well in Poland. I've been there and know this for a fact.
