FWIW, while a book rises or falls on its own merits, when it comes to Civil War and military history, titles from Indiana University Press are, in general, well received by academics specializing in those fields.

Civil War? I had a war with the 'gatekeepers' at the Kinsey Institute next to the building where my Hebrew classes were taught every time I tried to get into their archives for 'research' - but they wouldn't let me in. Maybe the bulging eyeballs, panting, and spittle drooling down my chin whenever I approached them gave my less than scholarly intentions away.
Seriously - thanks for the links, Sigaba.
