Apparently so!
But it isn't just corruption - it's a case of severe stupidity. Engaging in armed robbery - even if, as he claimed, the property was his - is sure to get one in trouble. And even though he is a thug, he has seemed like a cunning one in the past.
It seems to me that the wisest course for him would have been to stay indoors with his computer and books....but then, that's just me.
