MOO...whichever's comfortable for you in honoring the passing of a comrade-in-arms or our national colors and anthem is appropriate. I personally don't salute--unless I'm wearing the beret when representing the SFA--and certainly don't need the OK from some rule quoting pissant to tell me I'm doing it wrong.

National Anthem or Taps - I stand at attention.
Colors passing or Pledge of Allegience - I stand with hand over heart and hat in hand if wearing one.
Wearing beret - I salute.

Rome is on the verge of burning and the government is spending time on a declaration in writing to tell me that it is now 'officially' OK to salute the flag or during the playing of the National Anthem or Taps? What a bunch of hogwash from a herd of jackasses.

See attached jpg for my view of what should be the new mandated headwear for any elected or appointed member of the federal government so we can recognize them in public.
