Hello, I am currently an Active Duty Officer (1LT) in the process of submitting my application for the board that's meeting in the spring of '09. I am a "non-traditional" 1LT as I have just turned 40. I taught High school Biology and coached soccer in my late 20's and early 30's and enlisted after Sept. 11th when I was 33. 3 years of enlisted time (to E5) then went to OCS and 3 years later here I am. I have been deployed for 15 months in OIF I (walking patrols) with the 1st AD and training Iraqi soldiers. I'm something of an anomaly in my current unit as I challenge all the younger guys to keep up with me in physical events. It makes me smile to see the scratching their heads trying to figure me out
I have been reading post here for a few weeks and have found them to be very insightful and interesting. I appreciate in advance all the questions, concerns and insight. I'm sure I'll learn a great deal. Thanks.
