Thank you for your candor, and I apologize for things being a bit jumbled as I was myself at finding out he wasn't selected. I told him that sometimes they don't select just to see if the candidate has the guts to come back and try again, and he has been thinking about that a lot.
I personally agree with his idea that it might not be the thing for him YET, as he doesn't understand the Army yet and is trying to get things together, one of the things I have always taught him is you are either part of the problem or part of the solution, so his thinking that getting back after getting a little seasoning under his belt would be the best way to go.
I know just enough about how things work there to be dangerous, so I wanted to make sure I could offer the best advice possible, which is why I came here to ask.
I spoke to him after posting this and found out he had already requested a RIP slot, if possible, and with already having done jump school I am at least confident he will be put in a Airborne unit, so some of my worries for him are put a little to rest.
Again, thank you all for your reposes, and I will work harder on making any of my posts a little more clear, I do have a bad habit of rambling, so will watch that in the future.
