Just a few quick points...
OK, so the "cat" is out of the bag..... but is it really? NYT has been printing classified and privledged information relating to GWOT starting Sept 12th, 2001. There have been how many "Inside Delta Force" type tell all books written regarding SF and US SOF activities..especially since Sept 11th? My question is who benefits from this information "leaking" out? I would argue that AQ members do not benefit greatly and that they are already painfully aware that all SOF along with the alphabet soup civilian agencies cross borders to capture and or kill them or send our technology over borders to the same end. Maybe some of AQ's supporters and sympathizers may benfit from the leak and make them think twice about joining the jihad...but not the truly committed they are willing to die for their beliefs. POTUS stated (paraphrasing) to the entire world that the US will bring justice to the terrorists and to those that support them...where ever that may be. So again, no secret there. US SOF and conventional units have been bagging bad guys since day one despite all the NYT (et all) best efforts and all the media attention..hell there are playing cards at Spencers with all the top AQ/Terror targets on them.

If today's news is truly a classified leak who benefits from the revelation? Is it possible that the NYT has been sitting on this until after the election to keep the news cycle cranking? Is it possible it is some IO campaign? Or is it simply someone with an axe to grind looking to make a name for himself with the media? Or something else I am missing?

I just wonder why all these leaks occur which on the surface appear to be utterly devastating to our war effort and you never see or hear anyone hanging at the end of a rope- you never hear about an investigation...nothing. Then the story evetually fades away until the next time. Just seems suspicious to me.
