Don't be so hard on yourself. It sounds to me like you are growing up alot and learning to struggle with dignity. That is a very important life skill, almost certainly more important than anything else you would otherwise have learned during your "lost" year.

I suggest some sort of volunteer activity - all this introspection is not healthy.
