I use a few of the bulbs; they haven't made any problems. I do suspect that any energy savings will be offset by the greater cost of the bulb.
Of course, those who really wish to worry might consider any amalgam tooth fillings they might have...which contain mercury...and must be disposed of as toxic waste when removed by a dentist...
