Hasek was one of the top ten ever, no question about it.

I was watching some old clips of him in action yesterday. A few memories stood out:

1) Hasek taking out Marian Gabarik. I still don't think that should have been a penalty.

2) The Hasek Flop. How many times did he go to the ground, look like he was beaten, and then turn on his back to get the miraculous save?

3) Of all things, the Mastercard commercial - "Having a slinky for a spine...priceless"

When Hasek was with Buffalo, I truly thought he was unbeatable. When Detroit got him, I couldn't believe our good fortune. He was huge in our Cup wins in 2002 and 2008; and, had he not been injured in 2003, could well have helped add a couple more Stanley Cups to Detroit's list.

And, he retired as a Red Wing...twice!

The game is going to miss him, that's for sure.
