He did not lie, he misspoke. The camp his Great Uncle liberated, or his great uncle's unit liberated, is not as well known as Auschwitz. If no one said anything he was GTG, if he was caught, it was a simple error in sites.
He is intelligent and a political animal of the most dangerous kind.
