I see this as a step forward. The cartels are in some ways like Hez in Lebanon, their state with in a state.
A major part of the solution to our illegal immigration issue is Mexico dealing with their multitude of problems. As one who frequently travels into Sonora, I am usually reassured when Mexican soldiers are manning checkpoints instead of Federal-Judicial police or other groups. My companions are often put-off by a smallish "indio" soldier wielding an FN/FAL almost his size, but for some reason, I am calmed.
