When deer get overpopulated it is not a pretty sight. Here in this state there was a place where two rivers met and in that area deer were overpopulated, they ate everything on the ground to as far up as they could reach on their hind legs. In that area it was bare nothing for them to eat. They were dying of disease and suffering from parasites. It was really pityful how they were living. Finally they opened the season up so that you could kill as many as you wanted to for one season in this area and it brought the population under control and the herd's health improved. Hunting is the best tool for controlling animal population and is also the most humane. Letting them alone will only cause mass suffering.
