Ironically, both of us would be the Company Sergeant Major of that same company that we began as young, eager soldiers - serving and being mentored by giants from the Vietnam War. Thanks for the referral old friend.

I served in the 5th Group for most of my 28 year Army career as an O5B/18E, 18B, 18F, and ultimately 18Z. Most of my service was spent in the various companies or Bn staff in 3rd Bn, with a short stint in 2nd Bn when we moved to Ft Campbell, Ky while I was on a Special Project team. I also served in the Joint world in 2 assignments that took me to Norfolk Naval Base as well as Kirtland AFB where I retired (2003) and live in Albuquerque, NM. At one time I was told I was the longest serving SF guy in 5th Gp. Not sure if that is true, but I had a blast soldiering amounst the best in the business and miss being around other guys like me. That's why I fought to stay in 5th Gp so long.

I have read several of the threads in this forum and believe I can fill in some gaps (especially the move to Ft Campbell) having served in 5th Gp for a day or two. I look forward to interacting with those that have and are serving our Great Nation (in SF and other Services Components) as well as the young studs that have ambitions of giving SF a try. There is no higher calling - period. I am now a fulltime Govt Civ (Army) in a high stress, time consuming job with lots of travel, so cut me some slack if I don't routinely post - or take a long time to reply. Not intentional. I hope my job eventually normalizes; but for now, it is what it is.

Thanks for having me, and a very heartfelt thank you to those that have set up this site. I only wish that those in SF that have gone before us prior to the Internet could have had the chance to interact this way.

De Oppresso Libre!

Hey Bob, I'd bust on ya about your screen name...but I won't. I thought it would have been R**** B***, I know ya remember that one.

Anyway, welcome to P.S. Maybe "Dusty Z1A" would have been more appropriate!! LOL

Anyway, glad you're on board.
